Handcuffs: Bondage Basics

Handcuffs: Bondage Basics

One of the first types of bondage one generally thinks of is handcuffs! Cop shows are full of innuendo about them, magicians use them frequently with sexy assistants, and really, what isn’t to love about a bit of bondage?

So, handcuffs! These are another staple of most kinky toy bags, and one of the best tools to play with, whether your scene is a cop/prisoner roleplay, or you just feel like having your lover at your mercy. There are many forms that handcuffs come in. Some are the real deal, metal cuffs complete with keys. Some come with fuzzy sleeves over the metal. Others are in the form of leather cuffs. Still others are made of rope! So many options.

Metal cuffs are good for roleplay, though not so good for bondage you’ll struggle against, unless you don’t mind the metal cutting into your wrists. I’d be careful with that though. The kinds with fuzzy sleeves are somewhat better in that regard, and give you the option of still using that kind of handcuff.

Rope can be used for many purposes, but for this post, it’s going to be for cuffs. Once the rope is tied into cuff-form around your lover’s wrists, it can serve as bondage or even a leash! Soft cotton or silk ropes are wonderful for the sensitive wrist area, as long as it’s tied properly. For good tutorials on all sorts of rope skills, I would recommend Two Knotty Boys. They are quite skilled at both rope art and teaching!

Leather cuffs are very multipurpose. They can be seen all around as a fashionable item, complete with buckles and D-rings still attached. It can denote a submissive role. Sometimes just the tightness of the leather, the scent of it, the feeling of whatever soft material lines the inside, will send someone over the edge of desire.

Take your lover on a journey. Tie them down, or ask to be tied, and fly with the fantasy, the vulnerability, and the trust. It’s a connection that’s quite unique to experience, and one I highly recommend, no matter which side of the cuffs you happen to be on.
